We waited 4 years for this revelation! Ironheart finally introduces one of Marvel’s greatest villains and follows a path “similar to Dante’s Inferno”

A few years ago, the House of Ideas intrigued its audience with the possibility of introducing one of comics’ greatest characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Four years later, it’s time to present him with (not so much surprise, but a certain impact) within the tangled web of stories that make up the MCU.

The series
Iron Heart
he was responsible for bringing to life a major comic book villain. In the plot, Riri Williams, a brilliant young inventor, is determined to make her mark on the world. But her unique approach to building metal armor is both brilliant and unexpected.

One of the points that completely changed the narrative, even before the show’s premiere, was the dynamic between technology and magic—two elements that don’t usually mix, yet end up being taken to unexpected places.

While the first aspect is represented by the young heroine, the second is linked to the villain Hood, played by Anthony Ramos.

The wait is over!

From here on, spoilers for the final episode of Ironheart.

Months before the series arrived on Disney+, the introduction of one of Marvel’s greatest villains had already been anticipated by news outlets. Nevertheless, the studio remained silent on the matter, leaving the casting of a specific actor in the show in a realm of uncertainty.

The confirmation, however, came this Tuesday (1st) with the premiere of the final chapters of Ironheart. After a long wait and speculation surrounding the ending of
WandaVision
Mephisto has finally arrived in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The demon was expected to be introduced in Wanda Maximoff’s storyline, as in the comics, but he arrives in an unexpected place.

Performed by
Sacha Baron Cohen
, the villain is behind Capuz’s deeds. At the end of the series, the audience discovers that it was he who gave the item to the boy who ultimately became consumed by its power. Although his appearance is brief, the way he is introduced suggests that the antagonist is likely to return in future opportunities—especially considering the series’ ending.

Since he was personified in the MCU, there are loopholes that allow the character to return not only in Riri Williams’ storylines but also with connections to the studio’s mystical side, which has just added Zelma and Peter to the magical path of the House of Ideas, or in

Doctor Strange 3

.

Chinaka Hodge, in an interview with

, he even alluded to the series’ outcome and the diabolical antagonist:

I thought a lot about

Black Orpheus

“when I was doing the series too,” said the producer about the protagonist’s journey, referring to the Italo-Franco-Brazilian film from 1959. “It’s very similar to the

Dante’s Inferno

and Riri’s descent into her Faustian pact seems to me very similar to watching Orpheus and his beloveds making their way through the crowd at a carnival.

Who is Mephisto?

In the comics, he is the one who rules the extradimensional realm of the dead. Mephisto is one of the main, if not the most important, demons in Marvel. In the comics, he has presented himself as Satan and has been involved in stories featuring Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Thor, Doctor Doom, Agatha Harkness, and, of course, Scarlet Witch.

The 6 episodes of Ironheart are available on Disney+.
