But, beyond the explosive moments and incredible fights, there is also space for a lot of comedy. Finding the right tone so that the humor would not destroy the tension of the story was a challenge for the film’s crew and cast.
“I think the most important thing is never to forget that something big is at stake. When you tell a story, especially an action one, it’s important to have tension, anticipation, challenges overcome and a goal to achieve,” explains Cena.
“When the world around you is going down the drain, if you can laugh at yourself, it’s a way to break the ice and think: ‘This is ridiculous’. But soon after, it’s necessary to remember that there is an important mission to fulfill. The film gives us many moments to breathe, but it also has a countdown, so you can’t forget what’s at stake,” the actor continues.
“Hey, I think the movie knows it has a ridiculous dimension, but we believe in it, it’s something happening to us. And this is very important for the audience to get on board too. There isn’t a single moment, no matter how exaggerated it is, that we don’t believe in what the movie proposes,” explains Elba.
