“I couldn’t take it anymore”: He was one of the most talented child actors of his generation, but disappeared from TV after a trauma with fame.

Some
Mirin actors are marked in memory
From the heart of the public, whether for their cuteness or their talent they show from a very young age. One of these cases is that of

Eduardo Caldas

, who conquered Brazil in
Happiness
(1991), when I was only seven years old.

In the novel of
Manoel Carlos
, he interpreted

Alvinho

, a very smart boy, son of the character of
Tony Ramos
. From then on, he revised eight novels on Globo, with emphasis on
Of Body and Soul
(1992),
My Dream
(1993),
Four by Four
(1994),
Vira-Lata
(1996) e

Once Upon a Time

(1998), his last serial for the network.

After that, he stopped receiving invitations to act in new telenovelas, but his story in the artistic world did not end. In fact, Eduardo continues to be involved with theatrical arts,

Backstage.

All of this is thanks to the trauma that the childhood exposure caused.

Abandoned acting career

At just 14 years old,

He decided to leave acting.

Shyness and discomfort with the spotlight influenced his decision, but the challenging experiences left marks that accompany him to this day. Later, Eduardo graduated in cinema, and as passionate about productions as before, he decided to take another path:

now works as a screenwriter

.

“There comes a moment when

I could no longer endure it and told my mother that I wanted to stop.

“She said it was okay, that I should rest and that when I missed her, I could come back,” revealed the former global actor in an interview with Jornal O Globo.

The issue is that I never felt homesick. I wanted to hide and not be found. I wanted distance from fame and the world of acting. But in a way, that universe still belonged to me.

After the decision, he reinvented himself. “I graduated in cinema and started working as a screenwriter and director. It was only last year that I returned to sign as Eduardo Caldas and use this name again. I also opened my profile, which was private before. I didn’t want to be found.”

In the meantime, the screenwriter has already produced feature films, documentaries, and even series, such as
The Great Gonzalez
– but his great desire is to write a modern version of Happiness.

I received invitations, special requests,

But I understood that this period [of working in telenovelas] has passed,

I did everything I had to do, reached a peak, and thought there wasn’t much left to do. It was time to look for other things. I would do a “Happiness 2020″ to show how the characters are today,” he said in an interview with Gshow.

While this dream is not yet realized, Eduardo dedicates himself to other projects. The experience as a child actor was not easy and ended up sparking a new idea:

create a series of productions about the reality of these children

.

For this, he has already interviewed more than 65 former child actors and collected sensitive accounts that helped him understand even more the impact of the period in which he was exposed to fame.

Today I understand better, and I know that it wasn’t something specific that made me distance myself from the career, but a series of things difficult to explain.

There is an identity crisis when you are a child actor

, it becomes difficult to distinguish between what is part of us and what belongs to the character, he revealed to the newspaper O Globo.

You may even think that the trauma has permanently taken away his desire to act, but the new project has reignited a flame that had been extinguished for years. If before Eduardo never considered returning to the camera, now new possibilities are beginning to emerge on the horizon.

“From this project, I started thinking about creating a theater monologue, inspired by the stories I collected, marking my return to acting after about 25 years. I’m not talking about returning to make soap operas, but I realized that acting is part of me,” he concluded.
