“Disturbed my imagination”: Star of Tron: Ares, Jared Leto had difficulties filming science fiction because he is a big fan of the franchise

It’s not every day that a franchise with over 40 years of existence returns to the spotlight. Even more interesting is when it’s an intellectual property with very few entries in the film industry, yet with powerful narratives that have marked different moments in the seventh art. We are talking about Tron, a science fiction that is about to return to the big screen this year.

Disney’s project had a panel at the San Diego Comic Con on Friday night (25) with an impressive display of red lights, an aesthetic choice that matches the visuals of

Also present, the creator of the franchise
Steven Lisberger
commented on the first film of the saga, from 1982. “It’s not that Tron [Tron: A Electronic Odyssey] was ahead of its time. It’s that everyone else was behind,” he commented in reference to other science fiction films of that time.

The big star of the project, Jared Leto, said he is a “big fan” of the franchise and even had difficulties filming some scenes because he couldn’t stop smiling while acting with Jeff. “This movie simply captivated me. It took me to a place where I had never been before and touched my imagination,” he said.

We worked on this movie for ten years,” the actor added before revealing that the movie features a classic

.

Another behind-the-scenes aspect that came up during the panel was the relationship of the franchise veteran with “the younger group”: “Each one has different methods and ways,” explained Bridges.

He celebrated his participation in the project and explained how he got the role. “I just wanted to ride a motorcycle. I asked my agents to find something where I could ride a motorcycle,” she joked. “I’m so excited … it’s so special, it’s an honor to have this movie for the super fans and the most dedicated fans, but I think we have the opportunity to bring new audiences to Tron. I think we will connect many people with this.”

The panel ended with the presentation of the first scenes from this film, which will be released in cinemas in a few months, as well as the promotion of the song “As Alive As You Need Me To Be” by Nine Inch Nails. In the franchise, the soundtrack has always been as important as the narrative.

What is the story of Tron: Ares?

According to the official description released by Disney, the film will present a highly advanced program, portrayed in human form by Jared Leto:

Tron Ares: tells the story of Ares, a highly sophisticated program that is sent from the digital world to the real world on a dangerous mission and will represent humanity’s first encounter with beings created by AI.

As revealed in the new trailer for Tron 3, Ares also encounters the programmer Kevin Flynn (Bridges) in his mission, who developed the device in the first Tron that transported him to the Computer World, where he was trapped for years, and then apparently sacrificed himself in Tron: Legacy to allow his son Sam (Garrett Hedlund) to escape.

Tron: Ares arrives in Brazilian cinemas on October 9th.
