Actor enjoys being loved and hated by the audience of “Dona de Mim”: “Toxic passive”

The story of
Give Me Back
It does not suffer from the lack of villains nor is it lacking in the construction of fighting heroes, but flawed ones. There are still characters that lie between one extreme and the other. This is the case of Breno, played by
Gabriel Sanches
“The interpreter enjoys seeing the audience’s reactions to the marketing and style director of Boaz,” he says. “There are people who cheer and identify a lot, even those who hate and call her ‘toxic passive’ (laughter),” he says.

The Brasilia actor who had stolen the scene as
a drag queen Rúbia de Pega Pega
(2017) admits that he surrendered to social media to understand how Breno would be seen by the viewers of

” I wasn’t in the habit of following the comments, but they told me that on X there is a higher frequency, that people see and write,” points out Sanches in an exclusive conversation with the

.

“I understand that social networks work a lot in this kind of interaction, this habit, it’s something that keeps feeding back. I gave in, I decided to check the tweets about the soap opera!” laughs the artist, who came across a wide range of comments about the character.

“It’s funny, because it goes from people who identify a lot with Breno, that guy who needs to play the professional game, make average with Abel [
Tony Ramos
], or you will always end up losing. I think people who are CLT identify with Breno (laughs). But there are also those who say, “I hate this gay, he’s a toxic passive (laughs).” Because he has this more acidic humor, and he’s very honest about what he sees. You gradually get the temperature of the situation.”

Gabriel Sanches understands that part of the grudge from a portion of the public comes from the fact that Breno has taken on two beloved characters: he has already criticized Filipa’s colorful collection (
Cláudia Abreu
) and also hindered Leona’s chances (
Clara Moneke
) work in the company’s marketing. “But I think it’s good [that they hate him], if the character causes passion, whether positive or negative, it’s a good sign. I like that happening,” he states.

Now, Breno also enters another phase of the story
Rosane Svartman
, since her husband Caco (Pedro Alves) is the donor responsible for Ayla’s insemination.
Bel Lima
), who has already fought with Gisele (
Luana Tanaka
) because of the pregnancy. Thus, a rather uncommon and unloving quadrilateral will form.

I’m thinking from Breno’s perspective, given this situation that is unfolding. He doesn’t have a close relationship with children, he already said he doesn’t know how to take care of even a fern. And I understand his inability, because the focus is on professional stability,” says the actor. “Me, Gabriel, I really like children, so I would love [to go through something like this]. But Breno, I don’t know. And a soap opera needs conflicts, opposing encounters, difficulties, right?

Representation matters

Regardless of the direction Ayla, Caco, Breno, and Luana’s story takes, the mere presence of two couples
LGBTQIA+
In the novel “Das Sete,” it is already seen as a positive point by Gabriel Sanches — even more so in the current moment, when society is more conservative and same-sex relationships have been reduced in previous novels.

This story needs to be told. We cannot give in and be afraid to tell stories about love, about partnership, about the country’s future, about humanity’s future. And also about the past, because our general and social history is also one of homosexual couples. I trust Rosane and Allan [Fiterman, director] to carry this story in the best way possible.

“I understand that you have to deal with a sponsor, who has money involved, and if the novel is rejected, the company’s fear is to lose money. But we have to believe in the story. The more we believe, the better it will be for the audience, the more coherent it will become. If you cut too much, it loses its meaning. I think Rosane knows how to tell stories, we have to trust her,” concludes Sanches.
