Cacau Protásio leaves “Vai que Cola” after 13 years amid rumors of backstage conflicts

Departure was officially announced on social media

Cacau Protásio announced this Tuesday (7/1) her departure from the show “Vai que Cola,” ending a 13-year journey playing the character Terezinha. The actress will not participate in the 14th and final season of the comedy series aired by Multishow.

The decision was confirmed by her team on social media. “Actress and comedian Cacau Protásio bids farewell to the cast of the show ‘Vai Que Cola,’ broadcast by Multishow. Present in the program since its first season, the artist ends her participation in the 13th season and will not be part of the cast for the 14th season,” stated the official announcement.

“Vai Que Cola was a very happy moment in my life. I learned a great deal, had the opportunity to act alongside great actors, and interact with incredible professionals, both on and off stage. I’m very grateful for being able to bring joy into people’s homes for such a long time through Terezinha, a character who will forever stay in my heart. Thank you to everyone who was with me on this journey,” declared Cacau in the text released by her press team.

What will be the future of Cacau on Globo?

Despite leaving the show, the actress’s team emphasized that she remains under contract with Globo and already has new projects confirmed. “The actress will soon premiere the movie ‘A Sogra Perfeita 2,’ and in November she will begin filming ‘Os Farofeiros 3,’ both produced by Globo Filmes. Additionally, she is preparing to star in a new film from Estúdios Globo. Details about this production will be released soon,” the statement highlighted.

With Cacau’s departure, only four original cast members remain confirmed for the Multishow farewell: Marcus Majella (Ferdinando), Catarina Abdala (Dona Jô), Samantha Schmütz (Jéssica), and Silvio Guindane (Lacraia).

Did the fight with Samantha Schmütz influence the decision?

The announcement comes just days after rumors surfaced about a possible disagreement between Cacau Protásio and Samantha Schmütz behind the scenes of the show. According to the magazine
See
Cacau would have fallen ill and left a recording, leading Schmütz to file a formal complaint with the station’s compliance department. The situation would have occurred with the audience already in place in the studio.

According to the publication, this would not have been the only incident of friction between the two, and there are rumors that the actress who plays Jéssica would have already made negative comments about her colleague behind the scenes.

Series ends after backstage crisis

“Vai Que Cola” will end in 2026, at the conclusion of its 14th season. Although it was one of Multishow’s biggest hits, with more than 400 episodes and two movie adaptations—”Vai Que Cola – O Filme” (2015) and “Vai Que Cola 2 – O Começo” (2019)—the show has become more notable for internal controversies than for its comedic content.

In 2023, the dismissal of screenwriter André Gabeh exposed a crisis behind the scenes, with accusations of emotional harassment and interference by the cast in creative decisions. Gabeh, one of the few Black writers on the team, reportedly became the target of recurring and unjustified criticism from the show’s actors, as pointed out in a
statement signed by all the writers
A sitcom. The incident led to an internal investigation at Multishow and culminated in the show’s cancellation.

At the time, Cacau Protásio was the only cast member to speak out. In a statement on social media, she expressed regret over the situation and criticized the network’s silence: “It’s much easier to blame the cast than to blame Globo or Multishow. It’s much easier to accuse the smaller ones than to accuse the biggest.”

André Gabeh rebutted the actress’s comments. “We are Black, and I was disappointed by her lack of solidarity,” he told the F5 website.
