Live-action series of Assassin’s Creed by Netflix is revealed, production is in full swing!

After years of speculation and a period that seemed like an eternity in the Animus, the live-action Assassin’s Creed series on Netflix has finally received the green light! The streaming platform confirmed that the adaptation of the acclaimed video game franchise is in full development, promising to bring the eternal battle between Assassins and Templars to the small screen with a strong cast and crew.

Assassin’s Creed | Netflix’s live-action series expands the universe of Ubisoft games to television

The series, which was already in

pregnancy almost five years ago

, Roberto Patino (known for his work on DMZ, Westworld and Sons of Anarchy) will be the showrunner, writer, and executive producer. This confirmation brings relief to some fans who were eagerly awaiting concrete news about the project. Netflix and Ubisoft, who signed an agreement for various productions based on the franchise, seem determined to deliver an adaptation that does justice to the legacy of the games.

Although specific details about the plot and characters are still scarce, the series promises to be a very intense suspense that will explore themes such as power, violence, sex, and revenge, elements linked to the Assassin’s Creed universe. A

The expectation is that the production will go deep

in the rich mythology of the franchise, presenting new stories and perhaps even revisiting historical periods already explored in the games, but from a new perspective.

Remember that in 2017 a live-action movie was released, which is considered by many to be a real crazy mess! Very expensive, but with a story that seems to have no conclusion and ends when it seems like it’s about to start. They never talked about it again, and it looked like an introduction, but it simply didn’t succeed. Perhaps Ubisoft learned from it and uses that as an example of what to avoid in the series (The image from the post is from the movie).

The success of the series will be crucial

for the future of video game adaptations, a genre that has had ups and downs in cinema and television. With Netflix heavily investing in game intellectual properties, such as The Witcher and Arcane, the pressure on Assassin’s Creed to deliver a quality experience is high. If the series manages to capture the essence of historical exploration, parkour, and, of course, the leaps of faith, fans will have a lot to celebrate.

So, prepare your hoods and hidden blades, because the Brotherhood is coming to Netflix! And if you thought an Assassin’s life was just jumping from rooftops and stabbing Templars, wait until you see the bureaucracy behind a Hollywood production. It’s almost as complicated as synchronizing a viewpoint in Florence. But, hopefully, the final result will be as epic as a perfect leap of faith. Just don’t complain if your favorite character doesn’t appear, after all, the story is long and the Animus has space for many people!
